Weekend In Orlando/3rd in 100r…
I had a pretty busy weekend. My girlfriend just finished Nursing School so I went to Orlando to watch her graduation festivities for the weekend. I got to see some of my Orlando friends and some guys I used to play poker with. My buddy Reggie I want to shout him out. He say’s he reads every blog haha. I’ve known him ever since I started playing in the home games around Orlando.
On Friday I went to a pinning ceremony, then later that night I went out with some of my buddies. Well since I am not drinking for 3 months I just had to enjoy the night being sober. Driving home to my friend’s apartment (he will remain unnamed) he told me to pull over and that he had to throw up. We were 1 mile away from an exit so I asked him if he could hold it. He said he could. Now I should have learned my lesson years ago about talking to and listening to people who are drunk. Don’t listen to them! So I kept driving and I see him start to roll the window down. He rolls it down about 1/3rd the way and I see his cheeks swell up like a chipmunk. I see some puke start to come out of his mouth while he puts his hand over his mouth and I finish rolling the window down for him. He puts his head out the window and proceeds to vomit. Some of it got inside the car. It was messy lol. We were going 70mph on the highway so it splattered around pretty good. We went back to his apartment and got the car cleaned and also ran it threw a car wash immediately. I won’t out him but I did send pictures of him to one of our mutual friends. He said he was going to get revenge…but I don’t know if he wants to start that war!!!!
On Saturday was the actual graduation ceremony. I woke up and got ready and watched the whole graduation. It was pretty boring since you’re really only there to hear one name called out of x amount of people. After that went to my girls house for a BBQ and just hung out. I had to get back home on Sunday morning for my nephew who was having a christening. I made it to the church just in time and took my place. After that we had some people come back to my parents house for a little after party with some caterers and I decided to take a nap before I played poker.
I went to sleep at around 1:30pm planning on sleeping until 3:30pm so I could play the Sunday Million and all the other later tournaments but I didn’t wake up til about 5:45. I hopped in all the tournaments I could like the 500nl, and other one’s that were still registering. I just played all the later tournaments and I headed over to Stu’s house to play. Hans was there as well. I got deep in the 500nl and some other tournaments but nothing special.
I got home from Stu’s at about 4am and immediately passed out. I woke up and went and worked out and hung around the house for a little bit. I decided to play poker at night instead of grinding all day. I missed the first FTOPS event but I was okay with that. I played the normal nightly schedule including the 1k FTOPS event. I got unlucky about 100 out of the money with QQ vs. AJcc for a 50k pot at 500/1k. He flopped a flush and I was drawing pretty dead. I think average was around 30-35k at that point so I would of been in great shape but that’s poker! I did end up getting lucky enough in the 100r on Pokerstars to get 3rd place for about $20k.
Overall I feel like I played very well. I got into some really sick pots throughout this tournament. Here is one pot nearing the bubble where I just flat a UTG raise with QQ.

I held for a huge pot. And then I get into a pot with twirlpro. He’s pretty aggressive and this pot was on just about the absolute bubble. I knew when I raised that he would most likely try to use the button and his position in this pot.

Lucky river for me but way lucky flop for him. The flop was horrible for me since I didn’t have a club but either way vs. his range I knew I was in great shape to win a pot and after seeing what he held my read was pretty right there. I would of checked good flops to him and let him bluff probably but with him having a pot sized bet behind after he called my 4bet, shoving the flop was best for me.
I was chip leader when the bubble burst having 200k at 1k/2k. The field was really tough tonight and I basically just hovered about 150k until I made it to the final table. I had 150k at 5k/10k and won my first all in 9 handed AK vs. 77. I then chipped up and eventually we got 3 handed. Me, dyzalot, and sms (chicagocards.) I was down to about 300k to 800k (Chicago) to 1.9m (dyz) and ended up chipping up to 800k 3 handed when my bustout hand came up.

Basically I had battled back from about nothing and sms had lost a lot of his chips too. I thought dyz could be 3betting light here given the dynamics and how everything was playing out. I shoved my 4’s and was racing against his AK and couldn’t dodge the turn/river. I like my shove in this spot because I think I get a fold from dyz a good percentage and 44 three handed in this spot doesn’t play so bad. I would of had a little over half the chips in play with first place being almost $36k but I’ll take 3rd. I did all I could and I felt like I played really well considering how tough all the opponents were and some of the spots I was put in. The bubble of the final table was real tough. All players left were really good and playing solid. Luckily things worked out for me to get in a spot to take it down. Time to make some runs at the FTOPS events since I have missed a couple of them this weekend and this week. Goodnight.
Finally a 1st…
Last night I was lucky enough to win the $100 Cubed (1 rebuy 1 addon) 6 max tournament on Full Tilt Poker.
The final table was pretty crazy. I have a good story for everyone. I was the chip leader and we were 6 handed. Nobody busted out for a while and I picked up Aces on the cutoff at 2k/4k. I made it 10k preflop. The button called and the big blind called. The flop came KK5r and we checked to the button who bet ~16k. I called. The turn came a J and I was thinking about what to do when my Internet cut out. I hesitated for about 20-30 seconds thinking maybe my connection had just flickered and then I immediately hoped on the phone to get a hold of someone who could log in until I could fix the problem. I was also deep with 20 left in the $117 Super Turbo which goes really fast and you definitely can’t miss any hands there!
I called one of my friends who will remain unnamed (for his lack of urgency and help lol) and he was playing on his account and told me to call another one of our friends. I told him I was in a big pot with Aces and to log in my account immediately! He hesitated some more, I asked how much time I had left, he said 30 seconds and I reset my modem. I got it back up and ran back to my laptop just in time to hear the checking sound from sitting out and the guy in the pot immediately betting to take the pot. I’m not saying the guy is at fault for trying to win the pot when I time out and disconnect but he could of either 1) Used a little of his time bank to wait for me. Using all of his time bank would give him a disadvantage so that’s fine. 2) Check the pot down. It most likely is completely my fault for not having a second connection if something like this happens but it was frustrating logging back in right as I sat out when the guy immediately bet and it folded my hand. Just some online poker etiquette I guess and I would wait a little bit for someone to come back but I definitely didn’t fault the guy for trying to win the pot. He said he had QJ so that pot actually cost me probably 120k in chips. There was 70k in the pot and he most likely checks the turn and calls a 40-50k value bet on the river. The other thing was he was to my immediate left and him winning that pot gave him slightly more chips than me instead of me having 200k more than him.
After I got back on I settled back in and a couple players switched stacks with double ups and I finally busted the first guy out of the final table. At 3k/6k they shoved 70k UTG and I had AKhh in the small blind and reshoved my 230k stack. They had QQ and the board ran out QJ9xT and I hit the gutshot on the river and won the flip/pot.
Another player busted and we were 4 handed. I called a 12bb small blind shove in the big blind with A5o when he held 77 and I spiked an ace and we were now 3 handed. Three handed play the guy to my left was min raising the button every time. The third player had now lost all but 97k of his chips at 5k/10k. The button min raised and the small blind shoved all in for 97k. I had AQo in the big blind and with about 420k stack I elected to just call here. I didn’t want the button to have a monster and knock me out in 3rd. Cold calling is pretty strong too and I don’t think the button ever ever shoves unless im beat. He was a solid player so I really liked my play here. The button ended up calling as well and we checked a T42JT board (or something simliar) and the small blind had A3o, I held AQ, and the button had 88 and won the pot. I was now heads up.
Heads up I was a 2-1 underdog in chips. I had about 350k-400k to his 700k. I doubled up in a pretty awesome spot. The guy was min raising every button and then not playing too aggressive postflop. He min raised to 20k and I called with 56hh. The flop came 4h7h2d and I flopped a straight flush draw. He bet 28k and I check raised to 78k. He shoved A4ss and I called being a 70% favorite to win the pot although I only had 6 high at that point. I could win with a 3, 8, heart, 5 or 6. A lot of outs! I turned a pair of fives with the 5d and the river was a Js. I ended up doubling up there and taking a nice chip lead. I grinded the guy down keeping the pots small and value betting thin. When he was short like 15-12bbs he kept limping the small blind. I got to showdown a couple hands and he was limping T5o and other random hands so he was limping with his whole range and since I now had him over 4-1 I started to shove on him. He limped for 12k and I shoved 97o and he snap called with AQ and I ended up winning the tournament there. I had a discussion with Hans about the profitability of shoving when he limps since he folds such a high percent of time and we kind of argued about it but we think way differently about the game. Maybe I will go deeper into that in another post.
I wish I had the hand histories but my Internet kicked out again after the tournament before I could save some of them. Hopefully my memory is pretty fresh and I got most of the details right. Felt good to win a tournament outright but I would of liked to see how Full Tilt’s Chop system works.
I just did a Podcast for Pocketfives which will be up tomorrow. Other than that the FTOPS is here and congratulations to Hans for probably being the first person to Final table both super turbos on Full Tilt yesterday. He took 5th in the $59 6 max and 3rd in the $117. I ended up getting like 15th or something on a nasty beat QQ vs 36cc on 855cc board for a big pot. First place in that was 11k so that might of made my night better last night but I am not complaining!
Don’t ever say you run bad Hans.
Weekend Poker Results…
My weekend was alright. I didn’t play poker Thursday or Friday and then Saturday I put in a full schedule. I had 4-5 cashes and one final table. I final tabled the $100 rebuy on Full Tilt Poker and got 6th. Was pretty card dead at the final table, lost QKdd vs JTo to have average stack, bust out a player, and be 5 handed. Then I doubled A6 vs AK when I only had 5 big blinds. Ultimately I lost AQ (bb) vs KdT (sb) when he shoved all in for my last 18 blinds (Flop A56dd9dJd – running diamonds ouch.) So close yet again but didn’t go my way. I also got 10th in the $200 Heads up on FTP, 18th in the $200 PLO on Stars, and I think a cash in the $55r on stars. It wasn’t a bad day but anytime you make a final table you want to win it.
Now.. onto today. My Sunday was absolutely horrible. I ran really really really bad for the most part of today. Variance so they say. I have been running pretty good the last couple of weeks and definitely hit a road bump today. It was really frustrating losing some of the hands the way I did since I had gotten used to my hands holding up/running decent lol. Yeah it was really bad all day. I just was getting crushed by everyone. The day looked like a complete failure with no cashes until I had a couple tournaments left. I told myself stay positive and keep playing good. I busted two more tournaments and finally got some chips in the $163 on FTP. I ended up getting down to 12 or 13 people left in that tournament and ended up losing.
I shoved Q8o from the small blind for ~175k at 5k/10k into the chip leaders big blind (who had about 450k) and he called and had AQo and won. With 21k out there to pick up I don’t hate my shove. The tournament really did get shortstacked towards the end but I feel like my edge is bigger in these tournaments than to pick a spot like that. I’ll have to do some pokerstove calculations. I’m pretty sure I’m 35% against his range to call my shove (one of those unexploitable shoves us Internet players talk about.) It’s probably a profitable shove but I’m sure its close. Even with 17bbs left in that tournament short handed I think I can get it in better than that.
That tournament was my only shot to have a decent Sunday and I guess I blew it. I’ll be back at it again tomorrow and hopefully I shook off all the bad luck lol.
Other than poker I have just been going to the gym and hanging out with friends here and there. My ultrasound results said everything was fine but the doctor wants me to come back in 3 months and get my blood work redone. So until then they recommended I don’t drink alcohol and I watch what I eat. No fried foods and other foods high in cholesterol. Going out will probably be pretty boring now that I can’t drink so you will either find me in the gym working out or playing poker for the most part. Those are my plans for now. FTOPS is coming up too this week. Hopefully the little heater continues and I keep running good. Variance in poker is really crazy especially in MTTs. I was able to witness it first hand this week and it’s a scary thing. I hope I stay on the positive side of variance for a long time! Goodnight.
Losing Flips Deep…
I got 12th in the $300nl on stars tonight for $2500 (1st was 53k I believe) and I got 7th in the Full Tilt $50 50/50 for $1800 (1st was 12k.) I went out the same way in both tournys. TT vs AK. 6 handed in the $300NL and 7 handed in the FTP $50 50/50. Oh well.

Third In The 1k For 46k…
Not trying to make this blog a brag blog or anything but news is news so here we go. I just got 3rd in the 1k on Full Tilt Poker.
Played pretty good overall. Coolered some people, won some flips, had some hands hold up. Don’t think I had any major suckouts. I requested the hand history so I could post some hands but it hasn’t come yet.
I ended up busting out at 8k/16k when BegsClutch limped in from the small blind like he had done a bunch of times and I had QKdd in the big blind. I hadn’t raised his limp yet and made it 48k (I had about 400k something and he had like 1mil.) He jammed and I called. He had A7o and he held.
BegsClutch and GimmeDa1Time were the guys that I was three handed with and they played real well. I played a couple real sick pots vs Begs and kind of stayed away from Gimme for the most part. We didn’t get in many pots together. Begs was real active and that’s why we played some of the pots we did. Still haven’t gotten the hand history back so I guess I will post some of those hands tomorrow. Not a bad night but still searching big victory. Goodnight.
Sundays, Oh Sundays…
Today was rough. I just was deep in the 2nd 100r again and 200r. I busted both in pretty unlucky spots. Okay if you think I’m complaining of being unlucky or anything then stop reading. In any tournament you gotta get lucky period. This is a proven fact in poker by either not getting unlucky/getting lucky. Of course I had been lucky to get this far in the tournament, It just is frustrating in big pots/late deep in huge tournaments which seems to happen a lot. Not complaining what so ever. Just sharing my experience today through the blog.
The first hand is my bustout hand in the 200 rebuy. Pretty standard pot all around short handed, just pretty unlucky. When I got called behind I thought I was dead to 2 outs and especially when RainKhan calls. I can only have a chance with AK vs AK lol.

So yeah they both had AK and I couldnt fade the 4 outs for a huge pot with like 2 tables left in the 200r. 40k to first…
Okay.. now onto the other tournament I was in complete control of. Sooooo disgusted with how this tournament ended. I really feel like I played great.
This pot was deep in the money in the 100r. I had 3bet this guy for his third raise in a row and actually had a hand. It was a huge pot I would of been the chip leader and had almost 100bbs. This pot was killer for momentum and chip position. I did end up coming back after this pot but still.

Now here comes the pot that ruined my tournament. This pot I win on the turn 90% of the time. No way this guy is calling a 2 barrel shove in this spot unless he hits his miracle 2 outter, which he did. I really like how I played this hand and have no bad feelings about it. Opinions welcomed.

So I got 16th in the 100r and 19th in the 200r. 45k and 40k respectively. So close to maybe piling up two big scores, even one of those would of been nice, but again in the end it didnt go my way. Getting there and getting close and running good and playing better. I will keep workin at it until it all falls into place. Night.
100r Chop…
Run Good, Play Better! I just got finished chopping the 100r a little bit ago with nofingclue11 (CrazyZachary)
I had the chip lead 1.05m to 750k and we did a chip count chop so I won 20.5k and he got 19.5k about. He’s a very good player it would of been a fun heads up match but chopping it is fine with me. We were in between playing it and chopping it but we ended up working it out and going with the chip count chop.
The final table was really tough. There were some really good players who had chips and position on me. I had AK87 to my direct left. He hardly let me win any pots off him and used his position really well against me. I played one pretty sick pot with him when we were 5 handed. I saved the hand history.

I normally don’t ever show but I decided to show here against him to try to get him off my back a little bit. This pot really gave me momentum towards the end of this tournament. He crushed me in the 3-4 pots we played prior to this. He is a really tough player and gave me some trouble, but luckily I ended up getting the best of him.
I played the final table pretty well. I got my money in good just about every time. 3 handed I sucked out pretty hard when I made it 40k on the button with JTo and supreamdream shoved his 100k stack. He had QK and it came K469Q and I hit runner runner to knock him out and get heads up. He was real short but after that flop he’s a huge favorite.
Whenever I chop a tournament I ALWAYS END UP GETTING 2nd. My buddies always make fun of me saying that it reflects bad on my database lol. They love seeing me get 2nd after I chop. Maybe when I don’t chop I will stop getting 2nd.
Hans is giving me a little crap for not playing HU lol. He said since I had the chip advantage I should play it out. I was going to play it out if the chip count deal didn’t work out. The difference between 1st and 2nd was 6k so it wasn’t too much but still… In my eyes if I could chip chop it would be better for me because it’s basically like winning (minus like 2k in money) but you get the confidence and rush of winning. I feel like that outweighs the disappointment of getting second. The money isn’t a big difference. I am not guaranteed to come in first and I’m playing HU vs a good player. I have a pretty good amount of heads up experience but I guess I need to play some of these tournaments out and not chop it. I just hate playing so long and getting so deep and then eventually NOT winning. It bothers me so much lol. I guess just playing it out and losing/winning would be better experience and better motivation overall. I would either be mad I got 2nd and learn from my mistakes, or be more excited I finished out the tournament and won it completely. Oh well, there’s always next time.
No results yet about the ultrasound I had today. They scanned my liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. Hopefully I hear back from them soon and we can figure out what’s going on with this elevated bilirubin test result.
Guess that’s it. Remember guys “Run Good, Play Better.” Goodnight.
“Run Good, Play Better” & $1k Tournament…
Yesterday I went to the Hard Rock to play a 1k Tournament. It was a two day tournament. I didn’t know it was a two day tournament until about 6 levels in lol. It would of helped me if I had known that but it didn’t matter really. We started with 21k in chips (1k more for $10 addon) and the blinds started at 25/50. It ended up getting around 120 runners and as usual, was an awesome tournament.
I walked up to my table and sat down in the one seat. I just hung back at first watching some of the people play and started picking up on how they were playing. One kid was trying to run over the table. He was raising every limper and just attacking everybody. The first hand I played was against this guy. There was a limper in mid position for 50, he made it 150, and I made it 650 from the small blind with K8o. He called and the flop came A9Tdd. I bet 800, he made it 2500 and I mucked.
I raised KJ utg to 250 at 50/100 and got 4 callers. The flop came J78dd and I bet 525. Two people called and we saw a turn of 8s. I bet 1200 and they both called again. The river came the 4h and I checked and the guy next to act bet 1650. Other guy folded, I called and he had T6dd which bricked and I won the pot.
I was 3betting quite a bit in this tournament because I was using my position and applying pressure to the aggressive players to my right. The kid I was talking about above raised a limper to 250 and I was on the button with QQ and made it 850. He called and the flop came 883r. He check called my 1200 bet. Turn was Jh we both checked and the river came another 8. He bet 2100 I snap called and he mucked. He asked to see my hand which was kinda funny. I was now up to about 31.5k
A different loose player to my right made it 350 pre, another guy called, and I made it 1150 with KK in mid position. The tightest guy at the table called in the small blind as well as the initial raiser. Flop comes A25dd and we all check. Turn is 9s we all check. River is 6h and the tight guy bets 2k. Now let me go a little deeper into this hand. The tight guy in the small blind I literally think his preflop range is AA,AK,KK,QQ. Since I have KK I guess we can exclude that hand so he basically has QQ AK AA. I don’t think he’s ever betting QQ on the river. I tanked it for a minute and mucked.
Aggressive guy makes it 350 on the hijack I call the button with K6cc and this tight lady calls in the small blind as well. The flop comes 234cc and she leads for 1500. I have a pretty sick draw but she had been very tight so I decided to just call. Turn is the 9c giving me the second nuts and she checks to me. I bet 2300 and she min raises me to 4600. I just flat. River is the Ad and she checks to me again. She has about 14k behind. I bet 10k and she calls and mucks. I’m assuming she had like AcJ or something. I thought she might of flopped a set but AcX seems like it fits her better maybe.
I win a couple small pots and I am up to 53k on first break.
Guy limps for 150 I make it 550 in 3rd position with 89cc and the sb and bb call. Limper calls as well. Flop comes 975r and the first limper leads for 2k. I call and the blinds fold. Turn comes 6d putting two diamonds and giving me a straight. He bets 4k with about 8k behind. I put him all in and he tank mucked what he told me later was 9xdd.
I get moved to a new table and use my stack in a couple pots 3betting and what not. I kinda tightened up at this point because I had a loose guy to my left who was drinking wine and I was getting a feel for the table.
Guy limps for 200, I make it 800 with QQ and the bb calls. Flop comes 836dd and I bet 1100 he calls. Turn is 6h pairing the board and I bet 2700. He check raises me 5k more with 14k behind. I thought about it for a little bit what to do here. He called so fast on the flop I really didn’t think he had a set. I thought if anything he had 99 TT or maybe JJ and was raising me for value. I had fired two bullets at him in a pot earlier so that kind of stuck in my mind too. I didn’t think he would flat call with KK or AA, he didn’t seem like that kind of player. I decided the best play was to shove and I did. I moved all in and he snap called and asked if I had a set. Ah crap, did he really just call with AA or KK? I shake my head no and table QQ. He shows JJ and I hold and am now up to 82k.
I played two pots bad that cost me about 15k of my stack 7k in both hands. I was trying to apply too much pressure because I wasn’t aware of it being a two day tournament. I would of definitely relaxed a little more in those kind of situations but that’s my fault for not knowing the structure. I was now down to about 65k with the blinds being 200/400. I pick up AdAc on the button and make it 1100. The guy drinking wine is veryyyy active he calls in the small blind. Flop comes 952dd and I bet 1700. He makes it 5k. I know for sure this guy most likely has a 9 here and I don’t want him to give it up so I just called. The turn is the Qc putting two clubs up and he bets 6k now. I was now fairly sure he had some 9x hand like 9T or something and he was just stabbing again because he wasn’t sure how else to play it. Normally I am raising here but I really thought he was real weak and would fold so I wanted him to fire another bullet on the river. The river comes the Kc completing a flush and he checks to me. I felt like there was no value for me to bet since two scare cards came and I won’t get a bet from his 9. I checked and he tables his hand and says “NINE.” I show my aces and prepare to scoop the pot then he says “Flush!” I look at his hand again and he has 95cc and went runner runner flush. That was kind of a slowroll lol and I don’t know if he realized he hit the flush. Oh well. That was a pretty big pot and hurt my momentum.
Here was another interesting spot. 4 players limp I check my option with A5o in the big blind and the flop comes AT5hh. It checks to this one guy who bets small with nothing every time, he bets 500. My buddy makes it 1200 and I make it 4k. He thinks and flat calls me. The turn is the 2d putting two diamonds and two hearts and now I know when my buddy flat calls me here I’m in horrible shape unless he has like QJhh QKhh. I decided to check to him because I know he is definitely checking behind with a draw and he fired like 8k into the pot. I was pretty sure he had to have 55, TT, AT here so I mucked. He said later he had AT so hopefully I made a good laydown there. Seems like a pretty easy fold when I know that player isn’t really trying to get involved in big pots against me, but who knows.
Blinds are now 300/600 still no antes. Guy makes it 1600, I make it 4700 with QQ and another guy shoves in 10k. I call he has AKo vs my QQs and it comes 445ssAs river bricks. One coin flip lost.
I win a couple pots I’m at about 50k now. Guy raises to 1600 preflop I call with 9T suited. Flop comes 9T8 it’s 4 way pot they check to me I bet 2400. The big blind min raises to 4800. This guy literally never put any chips in the pot with a raise. He either bet or called. But he had also lost a big pot on the river where he lost half his stack so I thought there could be a chance he was tilted. He had about 14k behind. I decided to just call and he moved all in in the dark on the turn. The turn came a 3. I tanked it for a couple minutes and he started talking to me. He gave me a long speech about this and that and I was pretty sure he had flopped a straight. Once he gave his little speech about how he’d show me and this and that I just insta mucked and he showed J7o. I was down to about 45k.
There’s two limpers and the cutoff shoves 12.4k I have JJ in the sb and I call everyone else folds. He turns over AQ and it comes AKKxx and I lose my 2nd coinflip and am down to about ~30k.
I blind down to about 20k at 600/1200/200a and gibler321 just was moved to the table on my right. He raises to 3100 I shove 66 in mid position next to have for 17k more he folds. I chip up a couple other pots and am now up to about 35k in chips. Gibler raises the hijack to 3100 and I look down at AQdd in the cutoff. This is a tricky spot. Sometimes I 3bet call here but sometimes I just call here. With about 30bbs in this tournament I think I could go either way. I know I’m well ahead of giblers opening range so I guess the best play is to 3bet/call all in. So maybe I misplayed this hand. Anyways I call, the button calls, and the big blind (this Asian guy who was super tight for 2 levels then spazzed out shoved 88 on giblers squeeze with JJ) jams all in for 32k. Gibler folds, I snap reshove all in and the button folds. The Asian guy turns over 66 to my AQdd. Gibler tells me he mucked A6. I lost my last two flips so this one has to go my way lol. The flop comes 332dd and I brick the rest for a 70k pot to get me back in action. I guess I played the last hand bad for not 3betting but oh well.
That was my day I busted about an hour before Day 1 was over. Pretty frustrating. Overall I probably played my A- or B+ game. I made a couple mistakes but it’s tough not to. Just have to keep improving and playing good.
Like I was saying before in the last blog I have a new motto. The motto is: “Run Good, Play Better.”
I made this up last Sunday when I was playing online. Basically it’s motivation to run good lol, and it also reminds me that no matter how good or bad you run you control how good or bad you play. As long as I continue trying to play better, the running good part will fall into place. Poker is a very tough game. In MTTs the variance is just ridiculous so you have to stay positive and focused to make sure you aren’t making mistakes. You can control the mistakes you make but you can’t control the cards. Enough preaching about all that.
It’s about 4:30 am and I have another doctors appointment in about 4 hours. I have to get an ultrasound on my liver. Hmmm. I’m not sure what to expect but basically last year I had blood work done and had an elevated bilirubin level of 1.4. The normal is under 1.2. Last week when I got more blood work done my bilirubin level was now 2.0. Since it has elevated that much in a short amount of time they want to do an ultrasound on my liver to make sure nothing is wrong. I’m sure I’ll be alright but hopefully tomorrow I will know what’s up.
I guess that’s all. No good today in Sunday tournaments. I cashed in the FTP $500 NLH and I got 1 outted again for the 2nd week in a row in the 100r. Luckily it wasn’t at the final table this time lol. FTOPS is coming up so that should be exciting as well. Goodnight.
I’m So Sick. Literally…
The title says it all lol. I don’t get sick too often. I am fairly healthy but I had some sinus infection hit me hard the last couple of days. It started when I woke up from a nap the first day I was back from Vegas on Thursday (I think.) It got worse, then it started getting better, and then last night it was pretty bad. Luckily I scheduled a doctors appointment yesterday for this morning. I went to work out last night even though I wasn’t feeling so good I thought I could sweat it out. I got home, took a shower, and then passed out for about an hour. I woke up at 4am and couldn’t fall back asleep. I have been awake since then.
The doctor said it’s just sinusitis and I got some pretty hardcore antibiotics. I have to take them for 5 days so hopefully tomorrow I start feeling better and the medication knocks it out of my system sooner than later. I haven’t left my bed since I’ve been home except for the gym last night. I wanted to play poker today but how I feel factored with hardly sleeping the last two days that would probably be a bad idea. Maybe tomorrow I will feel okay for some of the good Wednesday tournaments.
The main event is still going strong and all my friends have unfortunately busted. I hate sweating how everyone remaining is doing because I obviously am jealous and wish it was me. Once you lose you have to accept that it’s over and do your best to prepare yourself for the next tournament. When I say that I’m jealous and I wish it was me I don’t say it in a bitter way. I just look at the opportunity and the situation the remaining people are in and wish I was in their spot. They are very fortunate and that is what every poker player lives for. A chance at the biggest tournament in the world. I can’t help but sweat it though lol. It would be pretty sick to see Ivey win it.
I guess I’m rambling a little bit now. I don’t know if it’s the medication or what lol. I just wanted to write a little update. I know I got some more readers due to all the WSOP blogs so I will try to keep everyone entertained and keep the blog updated frequently.
I have a new motto I’ll let everyone in on in the next blog. Time to sleep soon.
Decent Sunday, 1 Outted at FT…
I had a decent Sunday. Bubbled the final table of the $200 Horse in 10th place and then stone bubbled the Stars $500 NL 144 paid I got 145 place. I shoved 50k from the cutoff at 1k/2k from a hijack raiser who made it 5k. It was my first hand at the table. I shoved QKo and he called with 88 and I lost the flip and bubbled that tournament.
I ended up getting deep and making the final table of the Stars 2nd 100r. I finished in 4th place for about 15k. Here’s how I lost:

Supposedly the other guy folded the other 7 in the deck so I guess I could say I got 1 outted here (2% chance to lose for those who don’t play poker — the worst odds an opponent can have with one card to come if they are not drawing dead. lol) First place was 36k so I feel like I would of had a great shot to win it with 1.2m in chips 3 handed. One of the opponents was pretty weak and the other was getting too aggressive. Oh well. I played good that’s all that matters.
It feels good to get back from Vegas and the first day I play get some decent results. I really feel like I turned a new leaf and hopefully this starts the momentum I need to start making some big, consistent scores.
I still have one of my buddies in the main event who has a nice stack with about 170 players remaining. Hopefully he can continue to go deep and make the November 9.
Not sure what else to say, still kinda in shock about the 1 outter lol. I handled it well though. I’ve been handling the swings and stress of poker better lately so I need to keep that up.
I guess that’s all I’ll write for now. Goodnight.
